Zoom & Focus Gears

Zoom & Focus Gears
Zoom and focus gears may seem like small components, but they make a huge difference in how you work with your lens underwater. If you're using an Ikelite housing, these gears are what allow you to adjust your lens manually while diving—whether that means zooming in on a distant subject or dialing in critical focus for macro shots.
Each gear is designed to fit a specific lens model and housing port system, like DL or DLM. That means no universal shortcuts or loose fits—just a reliable mechanical connection between your hand and the lens. You simply rotate the gear knob on the outside of the housing, and the movement is transferred directly to the zoom or focus ring inside.
Photographers who shoot in cold water or wear thick gloves will appreciate how well these gears handle. The grip is firm, the movement is smooth, and the build quality holds up over time—even after repeated dives. Most gears are made from high-strength Delrin or similar materials that won’t swell, crack, or corrode. They're built for the long haul.
If you’re building a rig around macro, super macro, or zoom lenses like a 24–70mm or 100mm macro, these gears are non-negotiable. Without them, you're stuck at one focal length or relying on autofocus alone. And depending on your setup, you may need to pair the gear with specific DL Lens Ports, Port Extensions, or even Macro Ports from the DLM system.
